Nicole Hartnett
Nicole Hartnett is the owner and managing partner of Hartnett Law. She received her law degree from St. John’s University of Law in 2005 and also holds a Masters of International Human Rights Law from the National University of Ireland, Galway. Nicole received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, from Loyola University Maryland in 2000.
After graduating from law school, Nicole served in the Legal Protection unit with the United Nations High Commissioner of Refugees in London, U.K. She then went on to work with various immigration law firms in New York, where she gained extensive experience with all types of immigration cases, leading her to open her own law practice in 2013.
Specifically, Nicole helps individuals with family-based petitions, I-601 extreme hardship waivers, and citizenship and naturalization matters. She also practices deportation defense for lawful permanent residents, asylum, cancellation of removal for nonresidents, motions and joint motions to reopen immigration court proceedings, and requests for prosecutorial discretion. Nicole also handles applications for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and TPS (Temporary Protected Status).
In addition to working with individuals, Nicole has also successfully guided businesses in several industries, including IT, Hospitality, Education, Construction, Accounting, Health Care, and Finance through the process of obtaining various employment-based visas for their foreign-born employees. Nicole has extensive experience procuring H-1B, E-2, E-3, TN, and L-1 nonimmigrant visas for foreign employees as well as employment-based greencards.
Nicole is admitted to practice law in the State of New York. She is also able to practice immigration law in any state in the United States, and she has represented clients in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Arizona, Ohio, Florida, Illinois, and Texas. Nicole is very dedicated to providing pro bono legal services to low-income individuals. In addition to maintaining her own caseload of pro bono clients, she also routinely volunteers with monthly New York City Immigrant Advocacy (NYCIAI) Clinics and she is a member of the New York chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s (AILA) 2014 – 2015 Pro Bono Committee. She is a member of AILA and the New York City Bar Association.
Nicole is a resident of Brooklyn and grew up in Rockaway Beach, New York. She also holds dual US/Irish citizenship, and she is a recipient of the Irish Echo’s 2014 Top 40 Under 40 “Young Leader Award.”
